Spur of the Moment Fun

Chuck came home tonight and wanted to know if I wanted to go to the Cascades. The last time everyone was going, I couldn't go. They were having a group of fiddlers that were to play Celtic, Bluegrass, and Country in front of the falls at the park.

It was a pretty nice night and we got in on about an hour of singing and playing. The falls were beautiful as usual. I had not been there since college days. Chuck had gone with the kids once. We tried to call them but both of our phones were not working. When I talked to Julie later I found out that they were at some doings and Cyndi and her family were shopping for school at Kohls. It is funny we didn't meet at the Cascades ice cream shop when we stopped as they stopped for ice cream too. Maybe they went to Maggie Moos.

Since I wrote last we had some company. My friend Barb and her husband from South Bend were up vacationing at Mackinaw City and on their way back stopped to see us. I was so excited to see her and we had the best time sharing together. She and I were able to share from Day 1 of our friendship and is such a dear friend. We showed them our house and then took them to church and showed them around there. They loved it all. Then we went to eat at Ground Round. They had some yummy meals. We all had fish and salad. It was so good. It was so fun to share with good friends and we loved it. I had forgotten all about taking pictures, so I am including one I have from 2007 when we went on a boat ride together.

On another note... We have been having a few squirrels in our yard lately and now understand why the former owner of our house, Joe, left us a slingshot. We woke up Mon. morning to see a squirrel eating our petunias and tomato plant. We shooed him away and then Chuck went down to get a trap which was in our garage. It belongs to Cyndi and Nate and we decided to use it.

Sure enough mid afternoon we got one of the squirrels. Chuck took him out to Spring Arbor and let him out in the woods on his way to call on some people at the nursing home. He has been helping fill in, a little, for Pastor Earl and doing visitation work.

Tuesday was quiet and we didn't see any evidence of squirrels until Wed. morning. Then there was a mess on our porch, parts of plants all over the deck.

Pretty soon one squirrel wanted the cob of corn inside the cage he went for it. The door came down and it was too late to get out. So that makes 2 squirrels in 3 days. The trap works pretty good.

Today in the afternoon Savannah stopped by with her girlfriend Madison. They were on their way to middle school orientation. This will be their first year there. She wanted to show her friend our house. She gave her a grand tour. It was so cute to see her and know that she loves coming to our house. It is so much fun to have the grand kids so near. We love it so much. Thank you Lord for our family, good friends, music and pretty sites like the falls and yes, even pesky squirrels that fit somewhere in God's plan.

I love fiddle music! I wish I could have been with you at the Falls.
Are you sure squirrels made such a mess on your deck? I've never known that to happen. Could it have been a different animal? Raccoon? Possum? I think Chuck is good to capture the squirrels instead of shooting them like most people do.

Yes, it was squirrels. We caught them in the act of eating and digging. The female was much more high strung.
We enjoyed the music at the falls alot and just feel like we are so blessed to be here in this area with everything at our fingertips. Dr. just down the street, Women's health center across the street and parks within a mile plus family about 2-3 miles. And of course we love our church. Lots to be involved in and a part of.
